Raw mango cooked with toor dal and given a tempering, both south Indian/ north Indian style. This is the most common veg. curry item in the season, in all homes. Mamidikaya Pappu/Mango dal is one of the popular recipes made with raw mangoes.

How to make Mango Dal
Ingredients used in Mango Dal:-

Toor dal 1 small cup
Diced unripe mango 1/2 cup
sliced Green chili 8-10 pieces
Tomato 1
Turmeric – 1 pinch
Oil – 2 tablespoons.
Garlic – 4 slice.
Curry leaves -1 springs.
Coriander leaves – 1 spring.
Cumin – 1/2 teaspoons.
Chopped onion – 1 large.
Salt – 1 to taste.
Red chili – 2 pieces.
Mustard – 1/2 teaspoons.

Method for Mango Dal:-
Take dal to a pressure cooker. wash it and drain off the water.
Add 2-3 cups of water to the pressure cooker, add Diced unripe mango 1/2 cup, sliced Green chili 8-10 pieces, Tomato 1 and Turmeric powder.
Close the lid of presser cooker, cook for 2-3 whistles. when the pressure goes, open the lid and lightly mash it.

Heat 3 tbsp oil in a pan add mustard seeds, urad dal, chana dal, and cumin seeds. Fry for 1/2 min. Add broken red chili, 4 sliced garlic cloves, curry leaves and add chopped onion and saute for 2 min. Add boiled dal and water if needed. Add salt, mix well and cook for 5 min.
Finish it with chopped coriander leaves and switch off the flame. Enjoy this tasty mango dal with rice or roti.
